Material Damage Appraiser – Massachusetts Territory
Territory assignment, level, and compensation will be based on the selected candidate's location, experience, skills, and qualifications. Salary will be commensurate with experience and aligned to the appropriate level of the role.

Join our team as an Auto Damage Appraiser, where you'll play a critical role in helping customers recover after an accident by providing accurate, timely, and professional damage assessments. This position offers a mix of technology, problem-solving, customer interaction, and technical expertise in a dynamic and rewarding environment.
What You'll Do
As an Auto Damage Appraiser, you will evaluate vehicle damage and create detailed repair estimates that support fair and accurate claim settlements. You will conduct both virtual and in-person vehicle inspections, leveraging industry-leading estimating systems and repair standards to determine repair costs and proper repair procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform physical and/or virtual inspections of damaged vehicles to assess loss severity and identify necessary repairs.
- Prepare detailed repair estimates using industry-standard estimating platforms and company guidelines.
- Analyze vehicle damage and determine appropriate repair methods, parts usage, and labor requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, state regulations, and appraisal best practices.
- Collaborate with repair facilities, customers, claims professionals, and other stakeholders to facilitate the repair process.
- Provide technical expertise regarding vehicle construction, repair techniques, parts pricing, and damage causation.
- Stay current on evolving vehicle technologies, repair methodologies, labor rates, and industry trends.
- Support catastrophe response efforts and field assignments as business needs require.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance appraisal expertise.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Active Massachusetts Appraiser License required.
- 0-2 years of auto damage appraisal, estimating, collision repair, or related automotive experience.
- Ability to analyze vehicle damage and make sound repair recommendations.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with estimating software and technology tools.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Willingness to travel locally for field inspections when needed.

Pay Transparency: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at Mapfre are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Salary Range: $52,100 - $80,000
