Actuary II– Massachusetts Personal Lines Auto
Summary
Join a high-impact Actuarial team where your expertise drives decisions for a $1B Massachusetts Personal Lines Auto book of business. We’re looking for a motivated professional with strong business acumen, innovative thinking, and the ability to deliver actuarial analyses aligned with CAS (Casualty Actuarial Society) principles. In this role, you’ll be the go-to expert for Massachusetts Auto, influencing strategy and shaping outcomes that matter.
What You’ll Do

Own the Market: Build deep state-specific expertise as the lead analyst for Massachusetts Personal Lines Auto

Drive Insight: Provide actuarial analysis and support for rate changes and strategic initiatives, including:

Reviewing pricing for new or existing rating elements and coverages

Quantifying top- and bottom-line impacts of rate and non-rate actions

Forecasting how product, market, and economic changes affect profitability and rate needs

Lead with Data: Make data-driven recommendations, applying actuarial judgment where needed

Technical Excellence: Use strong SQL skills to retrieve and manipulate data across multiple sources efficiently

Operate Independently: Perform reasonability checks, catch errors, and deliver accurate results

Communicate & Influence: Present findings clearly to peers, business partners, and senior leadership

Collaborate & Innovate: Build relationships across functions and recommend process improvements

Mentor & Grow: Provide guidance to less experienced staff and pursue CAS exams through at least ACAS
Experience & Credentials:
-
3–5 years of actuarial personal lines pricing or related experience
-
3–5 CAS exams passed

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional knowledge in a specialized field
Technical & Analytical Skills:

Actuarial, analytical, and coding expertise (SQL proficiency required)

Ability to carry out intermediate quantitative analyses and contribute to complex projects under guidance
Leadership & Communication:

Strong communication with business partners and senior leadership

Ability to manage multiple work streams and prioritize effectively

Proven track record of implementing methodology or process improvements

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at MAPFRE are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Salary Range: $77,700-$140,000
