MAPFRE is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our Advanced Analytics Team, driving enterprise-wide AI strategy and execution. This is a high-impact role that combines technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership to deliver transformative, data-driven solutions across product development, market pricing, actuarial, operations, claims, and more.
As a senior member of a high-performing team, you will:
- Lead cross-functional collaboration and champion a culture of innovation, responsible AI, and continuous learning.
- Act as an individual contributor with ownership of end-to-end ML solution design, development, deployment, and maintenance.
- Mentor team members and advocate for MLOps and responsible AI best practices.
What You’ll Do
- Design and deliver advanced analytics and ML solutions aligned with business KPIs.
- Translate complex business challenges into scalable AI solutions in partnership with stakeholders.
- Own the full lifecycle of analytics initiatives—from concept to production.
- Apply and promote MLOps, coding standards, and responsible AI principles.
- Mentor junior and mid-level data scientists to elevate team capability.
- Communicate insights effectively to both technical and business audiences.
- Stay ahead of emerging AI and analytics trends, driving innovation.
- Support experimentation and proof-of-concept development for cutting-edge solutions.
What We’re Looking For
- Education & Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years or Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in financial services or insurance.
- Technical Expertise:
-
- Advanced Python and SQL skills.
- Strong foundation in ML, statistics, and MLOps.
- Proven experience deploying and maintaining models at scale.
- Familiarity with scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyTorch, SageMaker, Airflow, Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitHub.
- Preferred Background:

- Industry experience in insurance, financial services, or regulated environments.
- Exposure to cloud-native architectures and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts.
- Additional Skills:

- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities.
- Experience supporting GenAI or NLP solutions in enterprise settings.

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at MAPFRE are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Salary Range $130,000 - $180,000
