Job Summary

 

Responsible for reporting MAPFRE Insurance statistical and financial data to regulatory agencies according to established time frames and quality standards. This includes the maintenance and monitoring of statistical reporting data controls, error listings, and tables. Assist senior staff with defining user system specifications for statistical plan changes, product filings, and responding to special calls for statistical data.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

Education: Associates Degree or Technical or specialized knowledge or equivalent, related experience.
Experience: 1 - 3 years or High School equivalent plus 3 - 5 years.
Knowledge: Solid understanding of general and technical parts of the job. Working knowledge in field, able to work independently.
Decision Making: Makes decisions within position standards, generally applying defined guidelines and procedures.However, some interpretation may be required in dealing with exceptions, such as choosing from two or more pre-defined alternative courses of action.
Supervision Received: Works under general supervision for routine work. Detailed or specific instructions may be given for new activities or assignments.
Leadership: Works as an individual contributor. May participate in training less experienced staff.
Problem Solving /Operations/Direct Work Involvement: Applies knowledge to help solve moderately complex problems requiring independent thinking with direction.
Client Contacts: Contacts other departments and or external organizations or parties frequently. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information on matters which may be sensitive and or complex to interpret.

 

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Proven expertise in using various software applications to support statistical reporting processes. These applications include but are not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, Lotus Notes, SAS, Showcase query tools, and related company systems, AS400, V12, GuideWire and Tronweb.
  • Proven ability to maintain high quality standards while meeting deadlines. This requires attentiveness to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Considerable knowledge of insurance coverages, workflows, and data requirements.
  • Knowledge of the functions performed by Underwriting, Policy Processing and Claim Departments and how each impacts statistical reporting.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Must be able to develop and document procedures to be used by less experienced staff to perform assigned tasks. Must be able to represent Statistical interests in project team meetings and filing discussions.
  • Moderate understanding of mathematical applications and how to apply them to effectively communicate information in spreadsheet applications and manual reports.
  • Analytical skills as needed to identify trends, research reporting discrepancies, perform root cause error analysis, and determine appropriate course for resolution.
