Department-specific responsibilities, project description, deliverables, etc.:
Advanced Analytics works in a transversal way for all the company’s business areas developing and implementing Artificial Intelligence models. All the models are developed in AWS, using Python, SQL, Spark…
The deployment is also done in AWS using a Machine Learning Operations module. Once the models are deployed, these are monitored ensuring their accuracy endures over time.
The models depend on the business requirement, for instance, Advanced Analytics has developed:
- An Auto Fraud model, which predicts if an Auto claim can be fraudulent at the time it is recorded in the system. For this purpose, both Machine Learning and Graph analytics are applied to claims and policy data. With the graph analytics, the relationship among the claim, the insured, their policy, previous fraudulent claims, … are detected. Later, the Machine Learning model calculates the probability of fraud, which is reviewed by the Claims team. The Claims team finally makes the decision about the claim.
- A Policy Life Expectancy model, which predicts the number of months that a policy will stay with MAPFRE. This is a relevant model, since usually the longer the policy life, the more profitable. In this case, Advanced Analytics developed a survival model applying Machine Learning using policy data and policy tenure. This lets the business make better underwriting decisions.
