Mapfre Insurance is seeking highly motivated, intellectually curious college students to join our IT Summer Internship Program for a 10-week internship from June 6th - August 13th in Webster, Massachusetts.

As an IT Product Engineering - Common Capabilities Intern, you’ll help build, test, and improve shared technology platforms, tools, and services that multiple products or teams use across an organization. These "common capabilities" are foundational components such as authentication, APIs, data services, cloud infrastructure, DevOps tools, monitoring, automation, and user experience frameworks. You’ll expand your professional network through job shadowing, cross-functional collaboration, and interaction with leaders across the organization.
Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college degree program. Must be able to provide own transportation.
What You’ll Do
Proactively assess and resolve the security risks in Public Cloud and Data Center Infrastructure environment. Perform vulnerability scanning on Networks, Linux/Windows, VmWare and in AWS environment and drive resolution efforts. Make recommendations for vulnerability resolutions, drive resolution activities, and Keep a track of vulnerability remediation progress. Keep a track of latest vulnerabilities and CVEs and recommend and implement resolutions. Develop hands-on skills with security scanning tools, SIEM tools. Coordinate with other security SMEs to enable/disable Firewall ports. Implement security by implementing Akamai solutions to public facing URLs.

- Undergraduate (Rising Junior / Senior)
- Graduate Student (Final Year)
- Information Technology and Computer Science majors
- Microsoft Office Proficiency
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Math aptitude
- Analytical and problem-solving ability
- Knowledge of AWS, Linux, Windows, Networks, Firewalls, Cyber Security in general
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with software development and coding projects.
- Building and testing reusable services, APIs, or platform features.
- Debugging issues and supporting system improvements.
- Working with product managers, engineers, and architects on requirements and design.
- Performing data analysis and creating reports or dashboards.
- Writing technical documentation and process guides.
- Participating in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, standups, and retrospective
Key skills often used:
- Programming (Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, or similar).
- Software engineering fundamentals such as testing, version control, and system design.
- Data analysis and problem-solving.
- Collaboration and communication across teams.

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at Mapfre are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Salary Range: $29.00 - $31.00
