Engineer II- Java, AWS, Open Source stack

Summary:

Results-oriented professional committed to building a successful career in software development. Ability to develop custom software applications and update existing programs to refine components. Equally successful working independently on time-sensitive projects and tasks. A higher level Engineer role is available with commensurate experience.

Responsibilities:   

• Reads and interprets business requirements or incidents to create a design and coding solution to match the requirements.
• Tests coded solutions to pass developer quality gates to implement a solution to a production environment.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate clearly, either written or orally with customers, business analysts, project managers, management or peers.
• Collaborates as part of a team to achieve team goals and results
• Supports colleagues with a variety of tasks and projects to meet deadlines.
• Applies critical thinking relative to analysis, planning and implementation of business initiatives.
• Follows DevOps best practices. 
• Collaborates on efficient design solutions with global outlook.
• Creates technical specifications.
• Assesses new technologies before adoption and implementation.
• Performs Risk analysis. 
• Adopt Agile methodologies to develop software.
• Continually monitors systems performance. 

Experience and Qualifications:    

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or 5-7 years of professional experience in relevant programming languages.
• Demonstrates good business and product design capability.
• Ability to lead or mentor other technical team members.
• Continuously identifies opportunities to improve technical debt through recommendations and/or coding opportunities.
• Collaborates on efficient design solutions with reuse.
• Creates technical specifications. 
• Assesses new technologies before adoption and implementation.

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at MAPFRE are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Salary Range $100,000 - $130,000
