Data Architect

The Data Architect is responsible for overseeing the design, delivery, implementation, and support of a robust scalable data model and architecture across applications as well as Data Warehouse and Data lakes. This includes defining and architecting data standards, data models, and data solutions to meet the architecture and infrastructure needed for the data warehouse, data analytics and other data solutions across the company. In addition, evaluate and provide recommendations on infrastructure components such as software, hardware, database management systems, performance tuning, and networking capabilities that will add value to the data and business needs of the company.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education: Bachelor's Degree or professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, or equivalent, related experience.
Experience: 8 or more years - or Bachelor's Degree equivalent plus 10 or more years.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Proven technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting large scale Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence, Big Data, and Data Analytics solutions in the insurance industry.
· Advanced understanding of data architecture and technologies.
· Proven analytical, decision making, and problem solving abilities.
· Proven ability to identify and develop technical solutions for the larger and more complex projects.
· Proven ability to recommend software solutions for our largest and most highly complex projects.
· Proven ability to excel in a consulting role on data architecture, business processing, and/or data integration needs.
· Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
· Excellent listening skills.
· Excellent organizational and time management skills.
· Excellent negotiating and influencing skills.
· Proven ability to develop highly complex project development plans.
· Strong experience with Oracle (Required), DB2 (preferred), and Greenplum/Postgres (preferred) databases.
· Strong experience in Cloud technologies, including AWS technologies.
· Strong understanding of current relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
· Preferably, Insurance Industry experience with data architecting, data mining, large-scale data modeling, and business requirements gathering/analysis.
· Technical experience with designing, building, implementing, and supporting data warehouses, business intelligence, and data analytic solutions.
· Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
· Knowledgeable in multiple data architectures for a Data Warehouse.
· Knowledgeable about data-intensive and querying applications, ETL tools, and BI Reporting environments. (Such as SAS, Informatica and Cognos).
· Experience with data flowcharting techniques. (Such as Erwin).
· Experience with project management, such as Agile and other project management methodologies.
· Knowledgeable on information security best practices.
