Position can be at a higher level commensurate with experience.

In this position, individuals will be integrated into the Casualty department and trained to adjust a pending of Automobile Casualty losses to predominately include No-Fault, Medical Payment, low severity Bodily Injury and Un/Under Insured Motorist claims. With appropriate training, there may be some exposure to litigation management and/or arbitration. The individual will be responsible for screening new losses to determine coverage exposures, thoroughly investigate liability, evaluate claim values, negotiate final disposition of claims with appropriate parties, and issue timely and accurate payments if appropriate. Frequent oral and written communication with medical providers, customers and attorneys are required and these contacts must be timely and professional. Strong telephone customer service skills and the ability to empathize with claimants and customers are needed. Individuals should possess a high level of initiative and demonstrate the ability to work both independently and in a team environment with high daily workloads in a fast paced environment. Strong business and decision making skills as well as the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality are required.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education: Bachelor's Degree or professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, or equivalent, related experience.
Experience: 0 - 2 years - or Associates Degree equivalent plus 2 - 4 years.
Knowledge: General knowledge of industry practices, standards, and concepts within field of work. Applies them to perform work requiring analytical business skills.
Decision Making: Learns to make decisions and recommendations for varied situations, applying judgment to interpret related information, policies, and procedures. Decisions generally impact specific tasks.
Supervision Received: Works independently under general supervision. Work is reviewed for overall adequacy in performing tasks.
Leadership: Works as an individual contributor. Learns the job.
Problem Solving /Operations/Direct Work Involvement: Develops solutions to a variety of problems, typically of moderate scope and complexity. Refers to and interprets policies and practices for guidance.
Client Contacts: Contacts other departments and or external organizations or parties frequently. Contacts are primarily at or below middle management levels. Communication is primarily task-related and involves creating and delivering varied types of messages and information.


Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- One (1) year of Physical Damage claims adjusting or one (1) year Contact Center Claim Services with related claims, medical or legal experience preferred.
- Refers to and interprets policies and practices for guidance and accurate application. Highly organized.
- General knowledge of industry practices, standards, and concepts within field of work. Learns and applies them to perform work requiring analytical business skills.
- Ability to assimilate job responsibilities quickly and professionally.
- This position requires excellent written and oral communication skills and the demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work to assure productivity goals of managing a pending are met.
- Strong telephone customer service skills and the ability to empathize is needed.
- Must possess basic CRT / PC skills with accurate keyboarding abilities.
- Must possess good math skills and be able to work in a fast paced environment.
- Insurance Industry Education desirable.
- Completion of the Casualty Claims training program is required.
