****Experience with new product launch or after product launch. Commercial experience helpful. 

 

The Actuary develops actuarial analyses, with a focus on pricing in accordance with CAS (Casualty Actuarial Society) principles. These analyses will directly contribute to the overall performance of the actuarial area. As the analyses typically rely upon complex processes, with the potential to change in connection with the organization’s needs, the Actuarial Analyst will learn how to make changes necessary to keep the analyses up-to-date and free of errors. The Actuarial Analyst is therefore expected to understand the analyses undertaken, with the ability to detail the inputs to others in the actuarial area.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
 

Education: Bachelor's Degree required or higher or equivalent, related experience.
Experience: 2-4 years - or Associates Degree equivalent plus 4-6 years.
Knowledge: General knowledge of industry practices, standards, and concepts within field of work. Applies them to perform work requiring analytical business skills.
Supervision/Leadership: Works independently under general supervision. Works as an individual contributor. Learns the job.

Problem Solving /Operations/Direct Work Involvement: Develops solutions to a variety of problems, typically of moderate scope and complexity. Refers to and interprets policies and practices for guidance.
Client Contacts: Contacts other departments and or external organizations or parties frequently. Contacts are primarily at or below upper management levels. Represents organization on specific projects. Communication may involve persuasion, and negotiation.

 

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
 

  • 2-4 years of experience in related roles 
  • Experience carrying out complicated quantitative analyses, preferably related to financial math or insurance
  • Credit for at least 3+ exams on the current CAS syllabus. MAS I required and MAS II preferred 
  • Experience with Emblem (for Pricing) or ResQ (for Reserving) depending on the Actuary I’s area of focus
    General knowledge of either SAS or SQL Experience with Earnix, R, or Insure Quote preferred for pricing area of focus
  • General knowledge of applicable industry practices, standards, concepts and regulations· Ability to use these skills to modify existing processes or innovate new processes
  • Ability to use these skills to modify existing processes or innovate new processes
