Century Automotive Service Corporation, a Mapfre USA company, is growing—and we’re looking for a Reinsurance & Loss Trends Analyst to join our team either remotely or in a hybrid capacity based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Summary
The Reinsurance & Loss Trends Analyst plays a critical role in delivering analytical insights that drive reinsurance strategy, loss monitoring, financial performance, and operational decision-making across the organization. This position leverages advanced analytical techniques, data visualization, and financial analysis to identify trends, evaluate business performance, and provide actionable recommendations.
Working closely with stakeholders across Claims, Underwriting, Finance, Legal, Risk, and Technology, the Analyst translates complex data into meaningful insights that support strategic planning, forecasting, budgeting, and performance management. The role is also responsible for ensuring data integrity, maintaining reporting solutions, monitoring reinsurance activity, and supporting the organization’s overall risk management objectives.
Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Trend Monitoring
- Analyze and validate large, complex financial, operational, claims, underwriting, and portfolio datasets to identify patterns, performance drivers, and emerging business trends.
- Evaluate and project loss trends, including frequency and severity patterns, financial impacts, and future performance outcomes.
- Produce projections and forecasts based on historical data, current trends, and business assumptions.
- Apply analytical, financial, and decision-analysis techniques to assess business scenarios and support data-driven recommendations.
Reporting & Business Intelligence
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions that monitor key performance indicators, cost drivers, loss trends, and reinsurance metrics.
- Prepare recurring monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reports for reinsurers, senior leadership, and business partners.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring initiatives through structured analysis and reporting.
- Collaborate with Technology partners to enhance reporting capabilities and implement advanced analytical models.
Reinsurance Analysis & Compliance
- Review reinsurance contracts and ensure compliance with contractual terms, internal policies, and reporting requirements.
- Conduct analyses of claims, underwriting, and portfolio performance to support reinsurance decision-making.
- Perform claim and financial reconciliations related to reinsurance activities.
- Support internal and external audits, reviews, and reporting requirements.
Risk & Financial Analysis
- Monitor credit and portfolio performance and contribute to risk modeling and capital reporting activities.
- Assist in evaluating financial impacts of loss trends and business strategies.
- Support enterprise risk management initiatives through ongoing analysis and reporting.
Collaboration & Process Improvement
- Partner with stakeholders across Claims, Finance, Legal, Underwriting, Risk, and other business areas to communicate findings and support informed decision-making.
- Develop recommendations to address loss drivers and support implementation efforts aligned with business and state strategies.
- Document analytical methodologies, workflows, data definitions, metrics, and reporting standards to improve transparency, consistency, and scalability.
- Promote data quality, process efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in an analytical, financial, risk management, actuarial, reinsurance, insurance, or related role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently manage complex data analyses and business requests.
- Experience performing quantitative analysis and developing data-driven insights.
- Advanced proficiency with SQL and experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Experience using business intelligence and data visualization tools, particularly Power BI.
- Working knowledge of Python, R, advanced Excel, or other analytical tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical findings to non-technical audiences and senior leadership.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on data quality, governance, and process improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Finance, or a related field.
- Insurance or reinsurance industry experience.
- Knowledge of reinsurance structures, including treaty and facultative arrangements, accounting practices, and contract language.
- Experience with catastrophe modeling, actuarial studies, claims analytics, or detailed claims reconciliation.
- Understanding of financial, operational, and risk-related data used in insurance and reinsurance environments.

Pay Transparency: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at Mapfre are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Salary Range: $60,800 - $85,000
